WHAT IS IT?
The Community Project on home preservation of food and
useful plants was created in January 1996 after a presentation
at the Xth Forum of Science and Technology of the Committees
for the Defence of the Revolution of the municipality
of Marianao in the City of Havana. The Community Project
is directed to the Cuban family.

The Project aims to an educational program to generalise
simple and natural methods for an easy home preservation
of foods, herbs and medicinal plants.

OBJECTIVES
- To promote food preservation procedures using home
resources
- To provide economical benefits and food security
to the families when buying foods at less expensive
prices at harvest peaks and their later preservation
at environmental temperatures for longer periods.
- To avoid food losses at small and large agricultural
markets, as well as at home
- To diversify food choice, by making easier home
cooking and encouraging nutritional education to the
families.

centre with more than 160 home-preserved products
